I have an older GFI student model serial # 123 and it has a bar us berry pickup that is totally dead. I want to replace the pick up with something that will fit u der the strings.

My question:

Will the GFI 11 that comes on the new student models fit on this old one. Thank you

Why not ask GFI? I replaced the absolutely horrible Barcus pickups on an early GFI D-10 with a GFI-II and a George L PF, both of which worked fine. I suspect they’ll fit yours as well, but I’m sure GFI knows, and would be happy to talk to you.

Brian..From information that I have read, the later GFI pickups are a slightly modified George L 'E-66'. If you have removed the dead pickup you may have noticed that there is no provision for height adjustment as the stock cavity is cut to accommodate the factory unit..Installed an Alumitone five string 'Bass Bar' in my GFI and am well pleased with the results, helped to tame the guitar's tendency to be on the bright side tone wise (also sits at perfect height when installed).
