What amp settings are you using for a Session 500?

Thanks so much!

From the last time I used mine onstage-- Preamp vol 4,string effect off,low EQ +12,paramid 0,shift 300,high +3,presence +3,post gain 5,phaser off, master reverb 3,crossover inactive.BTW I was running the steel through an Alesis 3630 limiter into the front of the amp and controlled stage volume with that,so pre-gain at 4 and post gain at 5 might be a bit hot.I also have my VP connected to the volume pedal patch, which IMO works MUCH better with that setup.I was also using an old Alesis Quadraverb on the "Wet Echo Strat" setting,in the effects loop,so didn't need much from the internal reverb......For my $.02 worth the Session 500 is the bees' knees and very much worth using anytime the gig merits schlepping it around!

Thats a great amp. Weight is the only drawback if you dont have a back hoe to haul it.

FWIW.the best settings I ever had was Buddy Emmons settings. Jeff Newman published them in one of his news letters. There was a photo of a piece of paper that had all the steel players settings for the 500. I think it was from Scotty's convention and was posted by Gene Fields. I posted Buddy's settings a few times myself, but that was several years ago. Somebody will have those settings if they just read your post. My experience was the 500 sounded great if I used Buddy's settings, but I never could do near as good on my own.

You're in good company with a 500. It is the only amp I think that Joe Wright will use. There were at least two different models. Joe told me which model he preferred, but I don't remember which. I think the 500 and 400 pre- amps were the same. The power amps and cabinet size were different. I would recommend them as practice amps because they sound great and are not expensive.Once you get a neighbor and a hand truck to help you get it into your music room, it's not going to have to be moved..
again.

The Session 500 and Session 400 have different EQ systems and thus not the same preamps. The Session 500 was the first Peavey amp that used their "Parametric MID" system. The original 400's have discrete components (transistors) where the Session 500 has IC Op-Amps.

There were two cabinet sizes for the Session 500. The original smaller cabinet (what I had) and the later larger cabinet. The electronics were the same, just the larger size as Peavey contemplated using an 18" speaker but that idea was discarded.

If anybody could post a picture of the preamp setting of their Session 500, that would help me a lot

The "Paramid" is the "Mid" that I listed.

Here is the front from the Peavey manual:
