Just curious what your reason for selling is?
Is this a 25.5" Scale?

Pete - I am not a U-12 player, this steel was part of a trade deal. Yes it is 25.5' scale.

If you follow the link it says $4200

I have one just like it and they're brilliant instruments. Mine cost the same number of pounds so it's not a bad price.

You wind the string onto the top post, then you lock it in place using the Black allen screws just below.
Yes, it requires two allen wrenches to change a string. One to hold the tension on the wound string post, the other to lock it in place.
I also use a 1-inch long piece of a straw (I found one just the right size) to hold the string in place right after I slide it though the hole in the post, so I can grab the two allen wrenches.

Its only purpose is to keep the string from unwinding.
In my opinion he should have just put the Black screw where the post is, and lock the string down right there, (kind of like the way a Sierra Session keyless does at the nut).

Chuck,

$4200 shipped, partial trades fine as long as shipping isn't necessary. Lots of interest but still available.

Mike had graciously hosted me while I had a look at his Excel just a few days ago. Like Mike, the Uni-tuning (Looney Tuning, sorry Uni cats, couldn't resist indulging in the lowest form of humor --- the cheap pun) ...the Universal tuning stops me dead in my tracks. But, it is a beautiful instrument and you'd have to be told that it isn't a brand new instrument to get hip to that. It appears to me to be in showroom, pristine condition and awaiting just the right player to enjoy it's musicality. Cheers

Al - Thanks for the kind words, it was nice hanging out!

I changed the 2nd string change so that it is standard E9th, with the open string being tuned to D#, and the RKR lowering to D/C# with the half stop set by the start of the raise on the 9th string (B-D). Seems to work out well.

If you wanted to have the C# on the 2nd string in B6th mode without using the RKR lever, you could get an extra bellcrank, rod and tuning nut from Mitsuo and add the 2nd string lower to the dedicated cross-shaft on the B6th locking lever.

Best of both worlds
Very Happy
