John Fabain sat at the peavey booth and recorded the convention for two days in 1984.
I sent him a case of tapes and he made me a copy of the complete two day convention.
Buddy Emmons blows me away on his two sets with
the linus theme, which was my favorite.
I'm trying to figure out a way to put it on CD.

Chuck, that would be great to hear. There's several methods of burning a tape to cd on your computer. Just watch a YouTube video of the same. I have a cd burner and feed my cassette to it by analog rca cables. It works ok, but I haven't used it in a few years.

that's an incredible lineup. I'd sure love to hear this if you're able to do copies or upload the files, Chuck.

If you have a cassette player, hook it up to the sound card in your computer with RCA cables and record the signal with some software(Audacity is free and works very well for this)
I've done many this way. It takes a bit of fiddling around but you'll get it.

Two days of recordings will take nearly two days to "record" it to the PC. Then it has to be broken down and sectioned before burning audio CD's. May be 10 or more audio CD's for this. You also have to decide whether you want standard (full fidelity) audio CD's or MP3's (which are something less than full fidelity). In order for regular audio CD's to be played on any audio CD player (which includes old ones) the audio CD's must be burned at 12X or slower (my burn speed is 8X). CD-R blanks need to be the type that can be (ink jet) printed as paper labels are a big no no.

I have an audio CD production system in conjunction with my home recording studio. I have a bank of 5 CD burners and can burn 5 discs at a time. I have a Primera Bravo dedicated CD/DVD ink jet printer to print the CD labels. I do "small" (up to 50) CD runs for my clients.

Jack, You're killing me ! Laughing

I have all the equipment to burn and label CDs. Since I closed my studio the business has shrunk considerably but I still do a few. I can make up to 200 but I usually offer 50 with the session. My equipment probably isn't as professional as Jack's but it does the job.
Living in an apartment has it's limitations.

Chuck, John patched into my mixer which we allowed dozens of people to do over the years.
I still have my cassette, although many have deteriorated over the years.

Where are you located as i have free standing recorder, so no computer needed.

It is real time plus finalizing time. So if you have so if you have 2 full days, usually 14-16 hours per day, you should allow yourself a good 40 hour week plus overtime to complete this.
Use high quality Audio CDs and also save to a hard drive.
Homegrown CDs fade away after a while.

Though i am glad you have these, John broke the golden rule about making copies for people. Our deal was you could record for yourself but never to distribute.

Regards
Bill
