I'am thinking about buying a used magnum. getting hard to lug the old MSA around. I like the weight, I tuned and played C6th neck I liked it but haven't heard of anyone playing one, just looking for feedback. I nearly lost both legs a while back and have nerve damage to legs pedals on it were very smooth and easy compared to the old classic. |

Thanks for your input Tom I really liked the feel of the magnum so much easier on my legs and feet and Gene your response was helpful on parts, that was another concern. Been stuck playing non-pedal for a while due to pain. |

Gene, Magnums don't have dog bones. The undercarriage looks like Legrande sidepull bellcranks. Nice guitars! |

I purchased three during the Carter era. Liked the powder coated metal and the mica colors. Didn't care for pu's, so replaced originals with 10-1's and one w/BL sidewinder. |

I bought my D10 Magnum (used) from the great Herby Wallace in 2009. I like several features of this guitar. It is very easy to change the copedant or make adjustments. The powder coated metal parts means no polishing ever.
It is, for a D10, not too heavy, about 58 lbs in the case. It stays in tune very well. The action is smooth and precise - of course, it is a Bud Carter design.
And, above all, it has the TONE that I like. 😀

I’ve never owned a magnum, but believe they are of a high quality. If you search the forum, you’ll find out that they were built with the purpose of being sold in the big box musical chains( Sam ash, guitar center) . There is quite an interesting post from John Fabian about them. _________________ D.S. Rigsby |

The Magnum is about as good as any guitar I have played. I have. D-10 with Alumitone pickups at my Church and like it very much. It sounds very good and plays smooth as any and It pretty much stays in tune for weeks not having to be moved. I believe the Magnum is one of the most underrated guitar ever. I much prefer the undercarriage to the Carter. Bellcranks are 12 hole designed like Emmons 14 hole.

When I first visited Bobbe's store, I tried out several new Magnum's and GFI's, which Bobbe had priced the same at the time. I personally feel that the Magnum's were priced a bit high when they were new, as the GFI's were noticeably built more sturdy. With that being said, the Magnum's were very smooth and easy to play. I may have ended up with one if it had been about $500 or $600 less than the GFI. |

I built all but 2 of the Magnums during my time at Carter Steel Guitars. That’s what I was hired to do. Carter needed a better guitar than the starter to sell through dealers. They are as good a guitar as any. And in some ways play better than the Carter pro models because of the pullers. Sarah Jory played one for a while and she sounded great! |
