Totally astounds me that there are literally only 2 live performances available to see these two play even through all of their performances in Mexico, and in Italy they had their own TV show!

Two unique things I've noted in his playing...on the "..walk" note, from the main line, he plays closer to the bar, following his bar up the string, to get that sharper sound I guess. Also it looks like he does some very subtle volume pot (or tone pot?) tweaking throughout the song.

Nic, in regards to that volume/tone pot tweaking, I watched this many times trying to figure this out and I have come to the conclusion that he is attempting to stabilize the steel while he is doing his vibrato. I have this exact same model of triple neck steel (D-3 Custom Deluxe) and I can confirm that especially with the legs extended further as his are, it is very unstable and when you do the vibrato without stabilizing it, it creates a "washy" vibrato effect. Quite a unique instrument! So it is my suggestion that perhaps he is merely trying to stabilize the steel, as there are no volume/tone controls back where his hand is going (as there are on the T-3 Stringmaster, this is the Triple Neck Custom Deluxe with Trapezoid pups). I believe this was his main steel guitar since he plays this in both videos and is in photos with him (Though the picture on their first album is definitely a T-3, but perhaps it's been borrowed for this photo potentially?).
You can actually see here that he is using the D-3 and that he only has the 3 legs instead of the 4 leg mod that many people applied to this model, making it quite a shaky instrument at this height:

An interesting hypothesis, and quite likely correct. From experience, I can attest that my Deluxe34 double stands are considerably more stable using four legs than three. |

Haha, you're right about there being no pots there...in the video I watched, it was just out of frame and I forgot on those guitars, pots are between the necks, not behind the bridge. Great hypothesis!
