I have a 3x3 BMI and don't use the C pedal much – which seems to be the case with a lot of players. I was wondering if anyone has changed the function of that pedal to give them something they felt was more useful, especially something that could create some type of fuller extended chords. I'm not looking for anything specific, I was just curious. |

I was a non C pedal user and put the E-F# on a knee where I found it very intuitive and indispensibly useful.
But much later in life on a different guitar with an intact C pedal I learned a few licks with it - and it is not going anywhere.
Keep it! You will figure it out. |

The C pedal should be mastered before you remove it. Diatonic triads, unisons, pivots, and countless Classic sounds are available with the c pedal. _________________ I'd rather be pickin' |

Hi David,
Diatonic harmony is the mandatory foundation for all fields of commercial music and all musicians must be able to access those diatonic triads for playing beautiful melodies.
Basically we have to raise the E string to F# somewhere to use in conjunction with the B pedal. Might as well be located next to the B pedal. Larry Sasser put the E to F# raise on a knee. As we learn more about the music puzzle, the more we can't live without the B&C possibilities.

I went for years without using the C pedal. Never sounded in tune to me and I just could not find a use for it.
Then about 10 years into my picking, I was at a friends watching him play. He used the C pedal a bunch.
It opened up a whole world of possibilities for me. Now I can't get through a song on E9 with using this pedal.
Don't do away with it. You will be sorry. _________________ AUTHORIZED George L's, Goodrich, Telonics and Peavey Dealer: I have 2 steels and several amps.
