If I wanted to use my PSG as a non pedal....I would take only the legs and the steel on a gig, leaving behind the rods and pedals.
Works fine.
BUT
I carry all the wait of all that mechanical "stuff" in the undercarriage.
¿Couldn´t someone invent a steel where the underside were a separate entity just like the pedals?

I seriously doubt that a pedal steel could be built that all the mechanics were "plug in".
If you want a non-pedal steel, just buy a non-pedal steel.

There are lightweight pedal steels available that weigh scarcely more than a console non-pedal steel, such as a Stringmaster. So, I kind of agree with Jack on this one. |

There's also the Lone Star "skeleton" - I think it weighs about 15 pounds! |
