Hi I came across a used Sierra keyless tuner and decided to make up a lightweight lap steel to travel overseas with. The, problem is my old fingers ache when I tune the knobs.

What I want to do is to replace the knobs with screws that have a hex end so I can use an Allen key tool. I tried to get some screws but can’t find this size. Here is a picture of one, does anyone have an idea of the size. The threads are very fine and perhaps metric . Thanks for any help.

The thread is either 6-32 or 6-40...probably 6-40 since its not very common and 6-32 should be easy to find at the local Ace.

However, all that is moot, 'cuz you don't need new bolts. The knob on those doo dads is just a press on plastic thingy. Thread 'em back into the tuner plate (or hold 'em in some way that doesn't damage the threads), yank the knob off with a pair of pliers and voila! A regular old socket head cap screw will appear.

As Ross S says, it looks like those screws are fitted with what are called thumb screw knobs, like the ones on the right on this page:
