Besides https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewforum.php?f=20, where do you go when you want to find a new person for your band or project, or if you're looking to join a new band?

I've always used Craigslist, but are there any other alternatives people use?

Try the “musicians wanted” Facebook group in your local city. Craigslist is really the bottom of the barrel. The best way to meet players is just by getting out and going to shows and talking to people.

I would try the homeless camps, there surely must be an unemployed drummer needing work.

I second the recommendation of Bandmix. But, of course, going out and hearing people and then approaching the ones you like is probably best.

I find that Craigslist and Bandmix are totally useless (Bandmix is the worst).

Thanks for the advice. I will try it and will give a look at Bandmix too.

Craigslist does feel bottom-of-the-barrel-ish!

I found my last band hanging out in front of Home Depot in North Austin, but I got there at 7am and I was driving a long bed F-150. Your results may differ.

You really have to start way out ahead of the time you need a particular musician by hanging out where music is played, meeting players and glad handing. If you're lucky enough to play in one of the better bands yourself, there will be people who will volunteer to give you their phone number and ask that you consider them when you need someone. All the good bandleaders I know keep a little black book and are not without a replacement for very long.
