Just finished this, an aluminum 8 string Weissenborn style lap steel. 25" scale. Piezo pickup.

Nice work, no concerns regarding string tension on that neck! How is your bar on the bridge anchored? That instrument must resonate to the point of tickling.

This is the first 8 string Weiss I've made, and I was a bit concerned with the increased string tension. Handles the forces quite well.

The top has aluminum bracing. I use special industrial grade epoxy designed specifically to adhere to aluminum. The bridge bar is bolted to the bracing on the other side o the top. Some of the bracing runs from end to end, bearing the load of the forces of the strings.

I've been told by at least one of my customers his aluminum Weissenborn style guitar I made for him is at least as loud or louder than his wood Weissenborn. The tone is sort of a cross between a resonator guitar and a regular acoustic guitar. I did put an under saddle Piezo in this and it works very nicely.
