I have a reso that has an issue where the bridge on the higher strings keeps on traveling towards the center to have a straighter alignment with the bridge and saddle, and then there's not enough space between the middle two strings. The bridge piece on the lower strings sits tight enough to not move, but the other piece is just a little too loose. Is there an easy fix for this?

I would either, put a dab of wood glue in the slot (not much) or cut a little spacer to put between the bridge inserts.

Well, something is amiss with either setup, or...

Might determine if there were photos.

The short answer is that everything has to be aligned between the tail and the tuners. If not, things can seek center.

Shouldn't the screw that holds the spider to the cone stop the saddle from sliding.

No,

The purpose of the screw is to mate the spider to the cone.

That's it.

I'm not home to take pictures, but the string spacing was cut wider on the bridge than where they attach to the tailpiece, and that's why it wants to slide to the center, but then the middle two strings are too close together (after it moves). I'm used to electric steels, so I didn't know if this was normal. Thanks for the suggestions.

"cut wider on the bridge than where they attach to the tailpiece"..Hmmm

You didn't mention what kind of guitar. Some have a rep for the occasional built "off center".

At the very least, a requirement for complete end-to-end setup is plausible.

Tough to tell without the guitar on my bench. The only thing I can do is speculate. I've done that enough. Very Happy

Something ain't right, clearly. There should be an almost straight alignment with the saddle slots and the tailpiece. Like this.

But, like Howard said we are just speculating without pictures or more info.

I think the string slots on the bridge were just cut too far apart. Thanks for the help.
