Found some singles today. Don't know how old they are, but I kind of like the semi flat feel. Are these still in production in pedal steel sets??

If not, anybody making any strings similar to these.

Bill,
GHS makes a string like what your talking about. They call it a Semi-Flat Rollerwound String.
They come in a pink pack called the GHS PF-500 Rollerwound. Hope this helps. It does cut down on bar noise. You can also buy them in singles.

Bill:

Frenchy's Signature brand strings are made by SIT and he also has the semiflat ones. I've been using Frenchys strings for about 3 years on my Mullen and it's an extreme occasion that I break a string anymore. I have to be careful that I don't forget to change them because they last so long.

Bob,
Larry Sasser was the one that told me about them back when he played the Nashville Now Show. At the time he liked them alot. But thats been a while, and with the new Jagwire Strings you sale on the forum and the new Cobra Coil strings things have changed. As to answer your question if they sustain the note as long. I never did notice any difference. But thats just me,another player with a better ear, might hear a lot of difference.

I use SIT Power wound semi flats on the C6 neck. GHS SSes on the E9.

The tone on the C6 is a bit less shiny, but I like the texture and lasting qualities of the SITs.

Just my .020.
