I got jumped on last night for posting a video I made for Conways lost in the feeling that someone else is planning on making a lesson on. Im sure they charge, and I dont care if they do. Im sure if anyone wants to take the time to google or look theres all kinds of instruction on this song alone. if thats how I am going to be treated I will not post another link to anything I do on youtube in here. I DONT CHARGE A DIME. my stuff on youtube is free to someone that wants to learn. but when someone jumps on me for taking a dime out of their pocket then its time to stop. thank you for understanding as paul harvey would say GOOD DAY

I would not let that deter me Joe. As long as you are willing to give your time and expertise to help others learn pedal steel, there will always be grateful players who appreciate your generosity.

Far as I know, there is no pecking order uploading youtube videos....free or otherwise....

I saw your video link yesterday, but looks like you have taken it down now?

There are thousands of free guitar lesson videos on YouTube. Don't let one whiner stop you from posting whatever content you want to post.

I feel safe to say that no steel players own the rights to that song. Go ahead and make all the videos you want on it.

...and anyone that should even attempt to shut you down ought to be ashamed of themselves. Who needs that mentality in our community? Especially when they are using this forum to hawk their wares.

If their stuff is any good, someone else posting videos should not affect their traffic.

I don't know to whom you are referring but I have a pretty good idea it's from someone who constantly posts here.

Good Evening Joe, I sure hope you don't let this deter you from your good deeds and work!! You're not taking a dime out of anyone's pocket. It's the buyer who decides where he/she wil go to learn new material. pay or non-pay. I won't mention any names, but i got a good hunch, who the party is and if I'm correct, his material didn't appear to me to be that good anyway. AND, did he write the original material???? So how about that angle SPORTS FANS!! Keep up the good work Joe, there are some people who are learning from you!!!

Hey Joe,

That's too bad.. I don't pay for tab or video lessons but sometimes it saves me some time or helps me get unstuck to go find how someone played something on YouTube. I appreciate folks like you that can figure these parts out and explain it enough that someone like me can figure some stuff out.

Sorry to hear you won't be posting anymore, I've watched quite a few of your videos.

The only time I think someone should let this deter them is if the complainant were the original artist who wished to sell tablature to their own solo and steel guitar parts. In that case they have a prior claim to the material and I would certainly not want to stand in the way of them earning some money for their instructional material by undercutting them.

In this case, however, we know that it is not John Hughey who is complaining but rather someone who would like to earn some money by teaching John's fabulous solo to others. Nothing wrong with that IMO but you should certainly feel at liberty to give your services away gratis if you wish to do so.

So you want to learn Lost in Feeling?

Here is a tab posted years ago for the turnaround and the ending.

It was free then and it free now.

Enjoy

I for one am really appreciative of your videos and I look forward to new ones, so thank you.
But I’ve often read people in the psg world lamenting the fact that not many new people get into PSG, could it be that all the instruction is kept under literal lock and key? Not only is the instrument itself expensive but everyone wants to be paid for every bit of knowledge they share. Maybe there’s so many 6 string guitarist nowadays because the information is free and accessible and people share their tabs instead of trying to nickel and dime people for $2 a tab, to make what? $100 a year off your tabs or your crappy BIAB backing tracks? It seems old fashioned and counter productive.

Don't give up Joe. Stick it to him keeping on posting.
If he does post his lesson then everyone will know who it is and then treat him accordingly by boycotting him.
