I purchased this early postwar Kalamazoo KEH (Kalamazoo Electric Hawaiian) as a carcass. There were three original parts: The body -- stripped of its original finish and re-stained; the nut; and the bridge. I fabricated the mounting plate from StewMac cream pickguard material. I installed a fretboard from a Gibson BR-9 that I found on eBay. It has all new guts: Sentell humbucking pickup; CTS dual-concentric Jazz Bass-style combo tone/volume pot; Switchcraft output jack; StewMac cream plastic jackplate; and Gotoh SD90 keystone tuners. Plays and sounds wonderful. Set up and tuned standard C6. A nice little guitar offered for way, way less dough-re-mi than I have into it (my motto: buy high -- sell low).

With its new Sentell humbucker, this thing is quiet as a church mouse. Just the ticket for rooms where 60-cycle hum is an issue.
Offers considered. |

That's an INCREDIBLE deal on a fine lap steel guitar. Kalamazoos were made in the Gibson factory and this one, with its EXCELLENT upgraded parts is probably better than new! _________________ Emmons & Peavey |

I am not familiar with this steel but I did buy a resurrected Century 6 from Jack that I love. He described the guitar accurately, he was a great person to deal with, and it’s become one of my favorite steels to play. I would recommend him to anyone.
All the best

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Brian. I'm glad the Century-6 is working out for you. Those old Centurys and Ultratones are among my favorite lap steels.
I received your message, Lonnie. I'll be getting back to you tomorrow.
Steve, as you know, those KEHs originally had a single volume control (no tone), a single-coil P-13 pickup, the cable was hardwired, and the frets and position markers were silk-screened directly on the body. I totally agree that the concentric tone/volume control, the Sentell humbucking pickup, the separate BR-9 style fretboard, the jack and jackplate, and the new Gotoh tuners are significant upgrades. The instrument is now much more than a bottom-of-the-line, early postwar, student-model guitar.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! |

I am interested in this guitar. Does it have a case or gig bag and is shipping included? |
