I’ve listened to Noel Boggs play some smooth jazz classics, so I want to ask for some suggestions for really good jazz steel albums. Who’s got any pointers? _________________

Herby Wallace has a lot of swing and jazz on his. Of course he is no longer with us so availability may be tough. Doug Jernigan has jazz on 10 and several others including one with Bucky Pizzarelli. Great stuff there. Buddy Emmons had several swing and jazz things plus one with Pat Martino. |

Check out Doug Jernigan CDs, one of the best players on the planet, great at both E9 and C6, particularly jazz.
I have Jazz on 10, real mix of genres, some killer jazz tunes. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

Check out Buck Reid's solo album- not all jazz, but it has some originals in the genre as well as 'scrapple from the apple' and 'Donna lee'- aside from exquisite technique, Buck has a great singular voice. |

Doug isn't on every single track, but the music and performances are sublime.

I guess you're right Jim. I read that Buddy went to some seminar with Pat and almost recorded an album with him. I have the Buddy and Lenny cd somewhere. |

Indeed, that's true. I believe it was one of Buddy's regrets that he never got to do that album with Pat. _________________ www.JimCohen.com

If you're into more mainstream Jazz, check out Dave Easley. He's based out of New Orleans and is a very well respected musician there. There are some videos of him playing in the "Jazz Room" at the St. Louis Pedal Steel Convention that are really cool. https://davefeasley.wixsite.com/dave |

I think you mean Steeling Love... Memories was all gospel/worship music. Which btw... I CAN'T FIND STEELING LOVE ANYWHERE IF ANYONE HAS THE MP3S HOOK ME UPPPPPPP. The only physical copy that I've found is of course being gouged to $40 by some weasel on discogs... _________________
