Just did a Utube search for The old Buck Owens song In the Palm of Your Hand and a version by Marsha Thornto came up. Nice steel intro and turnaround. Marsha had a great album that had Dont Tell Me What to Do, long before Pam Tillis had a hit on it.

Yes the Buck Owens song is actually called "In the Palm of your Hand"....starts with "IN"..ha...and he actually recorded two different feel recordings......Of course Tom Brumley being my first Teacher told me it was his favorite solo to play on this version>

That album had an all star cast, besides Brumley and Myrick, Albert Lee, Mark O'Connor, Jerry Douglas, Steve Fishell (Producer)

Is that Weldon on Marsha's version? Tom's turnaround on Buck's version is excellent too. I guess I will have to do Weldon's intro and Tom's turnaround.

I don't remember Marsha, but she was a good singer, had a powerhouse voice, but her version isn't in the same league with Pam's version. But then, we all have an opinion.

I thought I had typed Tillis. I hate spell correction. It just did it again, changed it to Gillis.

I'm sorry Kenny D. I never inquired to Tom about that later version. I'm pretty sure that was Jerry Brightman on that album called "In the Palm of your Hand" out in 1972-0r-3> I can ask Rolene; she may know....
--------------
Ok yes that was Jerry Brightman on that later version.

George K. that was indeed Tom Brumley on Marsha's version, as "Mom" Rolene Brumley just texted me confirming of course Tom on original Buck version; and Jerry Brightman on Buck's later 1973 version and Tom on Marsha's version of "In the Palm of your Hand".

Yes, Tom did a wonderful job on Marsha Thornton's In the Palm of Your Hand. I was with him on that session. She's a wonderful singer.

Buck is one of my all time favorite singers and songwriters and that aside, Marsha Thornton really nails this song. Brumleys playing is just as good either with Buck or Marsha. My questions are: Do we all like the shuffle version or the ballad that Buck released? Seems like two totally different songs even when played back to back. Also anyone know what Marsha Thornton is doing these days? I didn't see anything new online or facebook?

I had forgotten that he added a couple of choruses on the shuffle version!
