These days the market is saturated with different types of Reverb units and Delay pedals, analogue & digital. Which do you guys prefer digital or analoge effects, or the good old spring unit in the amp. If you use reverb pedals/rackmounts, do you use spring, room, hall or arena settings or no reverb just delay.
Cheers Dave. |

Dave,
IMHO, an RV-3 ($100 +/- used) is hard to beat for the money and simplicity. Do a search in Electronics and you should find several discussions that will give you some good info/opinions on this unit and several others. I'm using the RV-3 with an NV400...Good Luck--Carl |

According to past threads on this subject, the most common choice for delay is the Boss DD-3. (Do a search in Electronics and you'll find threads with settings.) Many are now using the Pod XT multi-effects unit for reverb and delay (and everything else.) The reviews for this unit are very positive. The Boss RV-3 is a popular pedal that features both reverb and delay, and the Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail seems to be the choice for those looking for a good analog spring or hall sound.
My preferences are the Holy Grail for reverb and the DD-3 for delay.
The general consensus also seems to be that most players prefer an outboard reverb to their amp reverb, although some seem to find the amp 'verb just fine.
Although there are hundreds of choices in pedals, you can't go wrong with Boss. |

I put an Accutronics three-spring long decay tank into my Randall amp last year and now I leave the rack stuff at home, although I still use the rack to record sometimes. The rack rig has a Roland SDE2500 and a Yamaha REV7. I have a good double and chorus set up on the Roland but most of the time there is a 315ms delay (little to no feedback) on the Roland and #35 STRINGS w/100ms predelay on the REV7.
Rack stuff is a lot heavier and bulkier than the stomp-boxes but oh what great sound and none of that unwanted noise. |
