Loved Bud Tutmarc's single note version of this song.
Just had to try it for myself.
I usually make my own backing tracks, but just experimenting with the new 2019 BIAB.

I'm using a 6 string Magnatone.
This song goes out to Wally and Peg Pfeifer of Chicago.

Thanks for sharing this, Derrick. I love Bud Tutmarc's style. I think in some ways he is quite underrated: clear single note melodies are no less moving than lush harmonies! You do this style justice, and it's lovely.

Lovely playing Derrick,
Single note playing is an art on its own, more difficult keeping the sound coming than cord notes.
I Have listened to Bud Tutmarc's playing for the same reason to practice single note work. He was one of the best.

Very Happy Thanks for the song, Derrick. We happen to be in Dwight IL now. Previously in Joliet IL. Never ever in Chicago. Just Chicagoland.

I know it well. You do it justice! You even got his little "stutter" trill he sometimes throws in there. I was never sure how to do that.

Sweet listening, Derrick.

The Tutmarc family was/is something of a Seattle institution.

You’ve got a big-time graffiti art collection!

Aloha.

Great job Rick, very nice vibrato also. We all know it's not as easy as it looks.
Open E tuning is it?

Thanks for your video Rick. Haven't seen you in a long time. Great playing.

Jim, I'm using Sol Ho'opi'i's C#m tuning.

Thanks for that Derick, I was referring to Ricks tuning as open E
but it all sounds great anyway.
I like the C#m tuning also.

Very nice, Derrick and Rick, by playing single notes you can focus a little bit more on phrasing and vibrato since it is a bit less challenging than getting slants in tune, etc. And it sounds more like a singer !
