Topic: HELP! on changing strings, please |

Hi Everybody- I recently got a little Sho-Bud with 1 lever and 3 pedals. Cannot figure out how to change strings. I can see how the strings hook into the bridge, but not how they get there. Looks like I have to take the whole thing apart to get to the strings. That can't be right.
Did I mention I'm a brand new pedal steel wannabe?
All suggestions gratefully received.

Hi Bill,
The older Maverick had little pegs on the bridge pieces that you stuck the grommet at the end of the string over, I'm not sure about the later ones with the sunken tuners. The Pro model ShoBuds have a notch in the rollers (that you can't see) that you stick the grommet between. If you can't see a peg sticking out down there try fishing the grommet around against the roller and see if it doesn't catch in the notch. Be careful not to get it pinched BETWEEN two adjacent rollers, however.
Or you could just bring it up to Portland and I'll look it over with you.

| I don't believe there has ever been a PSG that you had to take apart the changer to put strings on. You probably have the slotted fingers that Sho~Bud used if you can't see the pegs. Just look at the other fingers that have the strings on. |

| If it's anything like the 2 ShoBud's that I've owned you'll be quit proficient at changing strings before long. I don't believe I ever sat down at either one of them without breaking a string. I know, I know!!! All of you fans of ShoBud will adamantly disagree with me. I'm just telling you what MY EXPERIENCE was. |
