I have a Sho Bud on the way that has a 710 in it.. I am not partial to buckers and will most likely replace it, but I understand certain Lawrence pickups are in very high demand and are priced accordingly.

I have heard ridiculous numbers, but am not sure... Is the 710 the unit that gets the big bucks or is it the 910 or 705 or whatever?

Just don't want to shortchange myself in the pricing dept, as is is my usual funtional modality. bob

Leave the 710 in it. They smoke in a Sho-Bud. Very powerful pickup that magnifies the Sho-Bud tone. Gary Morse uses them in his. I had them in mine. I know other players that do. Very well matched pickup for a Sho-Bud. Not your average humbucker.

Bob, it is the 705 that is hard to come by and bring a pretty good price. I have had 710's in my LeGrande II, didn't like them and replaced them. I learned more about them and reinstalled them dropping them away from the strings about 1/4". (Edit)
After receiving an email from my friend John Bectel I took the time to measure the space between the pickup and strings on the LeGrande II. It is exactly 3/16's. To me they sound very good, if fact, they sound great.

Thanks guys,, I'll give the 710 a fair shot.. Geez, I had visions of the pickup helping me pay for the steel.. oh well, easy come easy go... I'll see if I like it. If it magnifies the Bud tone like Kevin said, well thats all good as far as I am concerned!!! bob

If I'm not mistaken Lloyd Green uses a 710 on his Sho Bud.

I think that they sell for about $100 new. Carter puts them in their guitars at no extra charge.

I removed the single coil pickups from my Zum and put 710's I also had Jerry put 710's on my new Fessy. I love them. They help me compete with the lead guitar in the band. They are bright and strong enough to kick it out there. Great tone and presence. I wouldn't use anything else.
