According to their website, Freedom Guitar has a 1935 bakelite Ric for $795. http://www.freedomguitar.com/index.html

That seems to be about what a good one is going for these days. Sure doesn't compare to the price of that $5,100 FryPan tho'.
IMHO the Bakelites DO sound better.

Just got a response from the outfit you referred to. The POST WAR Bakelite they have is offered at a whopping $1,199.95!
A bit on the high side possibly....even for a PRE WAR model....but then again?

Wow, that does seem pretty steep. I'll have to try and get over to check it out tomorrow. I'm curious about the condition and I work a few blocks away so I can't resist.
