Well which do you want? A Great Seat; or a Great price?? ha.....you can't have both ya know....
I like my Walker Professional players chair more than anything....I have one of the first ones that Ray Walker built when he started puttin' them out; and it is just as sturdy and comfortable as the day I got it, and I play in every situation almost every night of the week.

Steeler's Choice is the best. They are custom made premium quality seats. There's no such thing as shopping for them. You get what you pay for. |

I have to say that my Walker's players chair is terrific. The seat is very comfortable and it is tough as nails. Mine looks like brand new.

John, I am very proud of the fact that I sell the Elite seat made here in Arkansas by my good friend and fellow steel player, Dan Sliter. I CAN give you a great price on a great seat. (sorry Ricky
I would also like to add that my other good friend who also builds seats in the great State of Arkansas is Ken Rollans who builds a great "Steelers Choice". I can vouch for either brand, I just happen to be a dealer for Elite but would also be glad to give you the phone number for Ken. Either way, I can help you. Both are great steel seats.

I have four seats...I love the Walker but it is heavier than the others.
I carry too much junk in my seats and if the seat is heavy to start with it tends to compound the problem. So the Walker stays in the studio.
Bud
I can also vouch for Ken Rollans , he is a great guy to do business with and stands behinds his product.[This message was edited by Willis Vanderberg on 14 February 2006 at 08:20 PM.] |

Steelers Choice, without a doubt....so well made and so comfortable. The big "PLUS" is that Dan is such a nice guy to deal with. I recently got a used one from Ireland, because my old Sho-Bud pakka seat burned in a tragic house fire. I sent the pix of "my" new seat to Dan, and he is going to send me free of charge to England some leg inserts and a new "badge" because the previous owner had put rubbers on the legs, and it had the old badge which said "Easy rider" It really is in good condition considering it was an early model and the back rest is a pleasure. Mine was just one of about four made in Blue

STEELERS CHOICE. There are several decent seats on the market.
In my opinion he steelers choice is the best thing out there. If you get the model with the "sidekick" compartment you will be spoiled and wonder how you ever lived without it.
The quality and service is excellently taken care of by , Ken, Dorothy and Dan Rollans.
I happen to know that Dan Sliter and Ray Walker are good people with good seats. I just happen to prefer the features of the Steelers Choice, not to mention the "friendship" after the sale. ...... JD

One of these days I'm going to have to move into this century. I'm still sitting on an old ACE seat that I got back in the 1970's. It really could stand some new Naugahyde, but nauga season is already closed.

I have a Steelers Choice and a Walker. The Walker goes out on gigs cause it's just comfortable, has room for all my pedals and other stuff. A big plus is Ray is a good friend and stands behind anything he sells. |

Still using my Sho-Bud chair I got from Bob Woods at Del City Music in Oklahoma City in 1983.
I've recovered it once. It has had 2 handles, two latches and I added a piano hinge for the lid. It still does a great job.
I have been thinking about buying a new one.
Until about 1964, steel players sat on a regular chair, piano stool, or bench. With the addition of the knee levers, players found it sometimes difficult to set at the pedal steel and reach the knee levers and pedals all at the same time.
Long time Sho-Bud employee, Duane Marrs came up with the idea of a seat specially designed for the pedal steel guitarist.
Duane Marrs built a prototype seat that included a storage compartment and called it the pack-a-seat.
When Duane approached Shot Jackson about the idea of manufacturing the pack-a-seat that he had invented, they figured out that they would have to charge no less than $35 to cover the expenses to build it.
No one thought that the steel players would be interested in such a seat, nor would be willing to pay money for it. But to their surprise, the seat was well received and as knee levers were added to the pedal steels, sales of the pack-a-seat increased and soon became, and still is today, a much needed accessory for the pedal steel guitar
