Hi Folks
If you have seen the video of Jerry Byrd and Marty Robbins
( the drifter) I think might be 1955 just before the advent of colour tv, Jerry is playing a dobro Spanish neck, obviously with extension nut, was wondering is he playing his Cth tuning, or high A tuning, either way that,s pretty high on 25 inch scale, 1955 would be a stock standard
dobro,no exotic woods ect, sounds great,or is it just the master of touch and tone

Alex, this has been linked and discussed here for about 15 years. If you search the forum, you'll find many, many discussions about these shows. Enter "byrd robbins" in Youtube and you'll see 'em all.

Thanks Andy and Frank
I had been looking for an acoustic guitar for playing
E13th tuning or sometimes called C#m7 B.D.E.G#. C#. E.
low to high, had completely overlooked a dobro,as most others I tried sounded a bit thin due to large 25 inch scale
light bulb moment came after watching jerry and marty,if he is in C6th or High A ,that's right in the same area as E13th
went to a friend, collector of all things resophonic
picked out a seventies dobro strung it up and bingo
sounds great.
when Jerry was here in Melbourne Australia in the seventies
brought out by the late Bruce Clarke .for one night would you believe,he played a dobro tuned to high A,for demonstrating purposes,i have a video of the night will re check it to see if it was the same guitar, but I think it would belong to Bruce as he also played his frying pan
don't think he would have travelled with that many guitars
thanks again Alex
