If you hadn't seen it, this thread is good https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=345252&highlight=mci
I think there is something special about the welded frame guitars, and they are undervalued in my opinion.

I have two of them here and would agree Brian. A modern-era classic IMHO Wink

I only used the 2 "E" knee levers on this record to keep it old country sounding. Man I love old country music! This the sound of my EMCI steel on a recording did entirely by Rob Dixon Watkins he did at home during home distancing 3 days ago. We are gonna start collaborating on some tunes. 2 man sessions. Couple of Texas boys. Lol! We spent a million nights playing the Texas Tonks. It's always a compliment when the bartenders holler across the room for someone to turn the jukebox off the band needs to start and someone hollers back "Their already playing." He had heard me singing it to Karaoke and it inspired him to make his own track with vocals. He did it in a different key than Merle's version. I only added the steel for him via email and it's not mixed in yet. Direct to audio interface dry with no EQ. Only reverb was added. Cuts like a knife and sustain out the kazoo. Picking the strings out separately sounds like bells ringing. The strings sound like they are twice as thick as they really are. I built it from new old stock parts Fred Gretsch had. The frame is a welded EMCI frame, the neck and changer fingers are EMCI but I had to make my own cold rolled steel axles and one is still two long. I used new old stock EMCI butcher block maple soundboards but only put a black alligator lacquer finish on it and no Formica. I used the smaller modern keyheads from the Carters and a Carter pedal bar with the heavy polished ZB pedals. E-66 pickups. All used EMCI undercarriage parts built from solid steel I got from Jim Palenscar. I think the undercarriage of cold rolled steel parts is where the sound comes from. Fun project that turned out great for $750.00 Junior Knight gave me a nice flight case with wheels to put it in.

I’ve still got my d10 emci and Intend to keep it so I don’t be saying, “wish I had kept that one” etc.

I would like to add a s12 mci Univ.

Great guitars

Hey David Mitchell tell rob Dixon I said hey.

Thanks friend! It's mostly EMCI. All the tone parts anyhow.
