I just got turned onto this today, Ivan Ward and the Swingsters release 4 sides on 2 7" 45's in the 60's. To say the least these are just absolutely amazing to me. The steel is minimal but really fun and cool. Does anyone know if they ever released any more material?

The Clique - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR0cF2QfQzc

Babysitter - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3WeNUwo3YM

66 Rock - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fF-wgZN5wmc

This is just the coolest mashup of Rock N Roll and steel yet!

I don't know about more recordings, but Ivan was well known around Modesto in the 50s and 60s and later in Oklahoma.

I think Ivan died in Watts, Oklahoma in May 2003--also his birthplace.

Cal Veale was known mostly as a writer, but did make a few singles.

Here's Cal on the left, circa 1955, with Bill Carter, holding a copy of Jim Reeves' "Penny Candy", which Cal wrote.

Veale was also from northern California (Stockton?), so I suspect he and Ivan had a long history together. You can find some of Veale's own records online and it's possible Ivan is the steel player. Listen to 40th and Plum and Paralyzed.

I'm sure someone here has pix of Ivan.
