I have a chance to buy a Nashville 400, anybody like this amp. I am using a Bandit Red Stripe right now...

I am going to buy the amp. If it's not better than my Bandit, I can sell it... It has a 15 inch Black Widow Speaker.
Heavy isn't much of a consideration, except for the first few moments. I'll dolly it in to it's resting place & hook it up. I only play along with YouTube for my entertainment... Too Old to go out anymore.

| I've had 3 of them. 2 were the older ones with silver corners and the BW 1502 and they sounded outstanding. the 3rd one was a newer one with the black hardware and the 1501 speaker. I couldn't get good tone out of that at all. I know they're supposed to be the same but many have commented the same thing. |

The one I'm buying has the chrome corners with a 15 inch Black Widow Speaker... It is a BW_1501-4, the Peavey Guy said it was a Steel Amp... made in 1983

I have about every Peavey Steel amp made and the Nashville 400 is in the top 3. If you put the tone Mod upgrade, an Eminence TT 15 speaker and replace the reverb tank with a Mod brand tank, you basically have a boutique amp!

If you are playing along with YouTube in your home, the Nasville 400 is probably way too much amp. I don't think you will get it to a voulume where the mentioned mods will make much difference.
This amp is the workhorse of the industry for bar band gig playing, though. |

I just set that Nashville 400 in my Play Room. I just got home with it. It looks like a new one.
I'll get it hooked up tomorrow & give it a ride...

How would you describe the difference in the stock BW 1501-4 and the Eminence TT, other than the weight of course? I have the Fox chips in mine and it sounds pretty great as-is with my Emmons Push/Pull, but the low end is a little lacking which seems consistent with what I’ve read about this variation. And how is the Mod tank different than the Accutronics?

They were great steel amps. I have probably owned 8 over the years but I'm getting older and the amp just got heavier each year so I went with a lighter amp.

My NEW-TO-ME Nashville 400 sounds very good. It is like a new one. But, I'm not sure that I will get rid of my Bandit. It is the last "Made In America Model" & it's like new....
But this is all new for me, so a month or so will go bye & then I'll make up my mind. Thanks for all of your comments.

| The Bandit 65 is a pretty decent amp, but it lacks the mid-shift control. If you're happy with your tone, the 400 will only give you a lot more power and volume. But if you're seeking a little better tone, and more latitude for copying other sounds, the 400 will help considerably. |

Charley, buy it; mod it,then let Tommy Huff build you a lightweight cab with an EPS-15 and you will have all you'll ever need without breaking the bank!
