Topic: Amp question on Peavey Session 2000 |

| Hello everyone, I have a Peavey Session 2000 amp with a Micro controller and a Peavey PX300, I powered up the 2000 amp and the LCD keeps flashing on and off, does the Micro controller need to be connected to stop the LCD from flashing? I also have a ram card for the amp, i have a manual for it just no cords to hook up micro controller, or is something wrong with the amp causing the LCD display to flash on and off?. | steve, if you are using the amp by itselt there should be noflashing lights. i have the same rig, most time i use just the amp, i have use just the amp and the controller, also have used the 300 just to check out the sound. mine developed a squealing sound and had to sent it to peavey repair. but i have never had any problem with anything flashing. you can send just the head to peavey and they will take care of the problem, the head weighs less than 15 pound so the shipping is not expensive....thanks jack |

| Sounds like a battery problem, mine did the same thing. I ordered a battery---less chip from Ken Fox,and had Peavy instal it . Problem solved. |

| Thanks guys, I am an electronics technician never worked on Peavey's amps, i still check out the battery, i will never know why they would put batteries in amps I guess because they are digital instead of analog. |

| If it cleans and still works then a NVSRAM, ie Batteryless Mod will eliminate the need for a battery forever |

I removed the chassis from the cabinet of the Peavey session 2000, I plugged it in the wall, turned on the power switch, the clip light and the LCD display and a relay on board keeps clicking and led clip light blinks on and off, I see no onboard battery.

I can see the on board battery was replaced with an outboard battery with a black and red wire leads Typical of a Peavey repair
Can you do a factory reset and get it to work. If so that battery is dead
If not it needs to be sent to Peavey for possible repair |

| Well I plugged the amp in powered it up let it clip, started smelling a component slight burning smell, very near the preamp controls, part could be underneath the other side of circuit board, I immediately cut power, need to remove the circuit board to check components, but I am certain it is near the control dials, i see a lot of bad solder connections that need touched up. |

| I pulled the circuit card, don't see anything burnout but I took a measurement of the outboard battery, it is dead, either needs replaced or buy the modification chip. Circuit board looks good, will take readings of resistors and other components. |

| Even with a dead battery it should still work after a reset. Hold down the right and down cursors and turn the amp on. Release the cursors and amp should reset to factory default settings and work. If it does not work it will require further repair |
