I combined the two audio files I created with this aluminum Weissenborn, which is recently finished build #11, and a bunch of photos, into a short slide show.

What method was used to fasten top and bottom to sides?

Traditional wood lining, with kerfing. I use special epoxy specifically designed to bond with aluminum. I use aluminum angle, 1/16" x 1/2" x 1/2" for bracing on the top (bonded with epoxy). Bridge is bolted to the bracing through the top, for strength (top does not buckle or bow, etc.) Most any tuning can be used, with no concern for damage to the guitar, as is the case with most wood Weissenborn lap steel guitars.

Did you build this?

If so - no offense - but the title really should be custom aluminum hollow-neck (or "Weissenborn copy") guitar".

It's not a Weissenborn guitar and the title is misleading.

Yes, I built this guitar.

Title of this thread has been changed.

I've seen 'Weissenborn Style' used. Weissenborn, my understanding, is a style, and, not just the original ones made way back when. There are many recent made 'Weissenborn Style' lap steel guitars.

Not plugging here, but, this is up on eBay, and I did put 'ALUMINUM WEISSENBORN STYLE HAWAIIAN LAP STEEL ACOUSTIC GUITAR' as the title. I didn't edit it after seeing this here post, that's what I had put there. Not sure why I didn't put something like this here in the title of this thread?

To call a guitar a 'Weissenborn' style guitar is an honor to the genius who invented it.

No offense intended. No intention to be misleading.

Some people take offense if you call a guitar that sits on your lap and is played with a tone bar, a "Lap Steel", insisting it be called a 'Steel Guitar.'

Whatever.........

Again, no offense intended, and, you are the first to comment on the matter.

BTW, I very much love the sound of wood 'Weissenborn Style' lap steel guitars.
