| doe,s anyone have one with an aluminum neck, if so i am interested in checking it out. also would like other players opinion on the sound compared to the wood neck?....thanks jack |

Never seen a super pro with AL necks, sounds cool though. I've got a super Pro with wood necks, wood seems a little warmer than the Pro 3's to me but just my opinion. Both I've played sounded amazing.

I would imagine it would sound like a Pro III.. A nice enough sound, but not as good as earlier Buds...

| I have a Super Pro with metal necks. I have played both wood neck and metal neck Super Pros. The metal necks are a little hotter. I use a NV112 with Fox Mods, Hilton Volume Pedal and a Steel Guitar Black Box. No other effects. My Lows, Mids and Shift settings are a little different than settings with wood necks. |

I've got one, and it's a screamer. The accepted opinion is that the tone difference between wood and metal necks is not so much the material of the neck, but rather the difference in the way the changers are mounted. SuperPro's with metal necks are a bit brighter, usually.

| Mine had the colored fret boards originally. Fret boards came loose. Got new ones from Tom Bradshaw. Tom makes some darn nice ones. That's me in the back! No hair!!! What's left is all white!!! |

I had a Black Super Pro with Ali necks, 9 + 9 back in the 80's, got it new in 1982 ....apart from the obvious issues with the knee lever pot metal brackets etc it was a great guitar and sounded fantastic. I had BL705 Chrome originals on it too. I did have a few tuning issues with it over the years - but I didn't know about compensators back then hehe ... pretty good guitar at the time.
While I no longer own it, it still lives locally - it's a bit worse for wear these days but here is some recent pics of it....

I have one as well. Mine I've been told is 1 of 5 that has the 24 1/4 "scale.
Love the tone with chrome 705's. |

I was in charge of Sho~Bud production from October 1979 until the end of production and there was never anything but a 24" scale made during that time! There was only one scale (Plastic or Metal)in inventory and that was 24". There may have been other scales used at sometime before 1979 but I am confident all Super Pro steels after 1979 were 24".
