Any thoughts on what would be a fair price for a 1964 black Tolex Fender Bassman cabinet loaded with its original Oxfords? I have a fairly nice "NF" (June, 1964) 6G6-B Bassman head, and a matching cab is for sale within driving distance. Would the combo platter of head & cab be more valuable separately, or together? Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

vintage price guide indicates about $1400 total with about $500 for cab. excellent condition.

edit: i see that you are looking at purchasing a matching blonde head and cab while selling a black cab.

play music!

Not exactly. I've owned a black Tolex 6G6-B Bassman head for decades, but never had the matching cab. I used to run it into a black single Showman cab with the tone ring and a D-130F. I sold that Showman cab long ago, but still have the Bassman. I'm seeking the correct 2x12 Bassman speaker cab to make a complete set. A Bandmaster cabinet is similar, but the sockets for attaching the amp head to the cab are spaced differently than a Bassman. Or so I've been led to believe.

Thanks for the pricing info, Mr. B.

Search the GC used sight for an approximation. These 2 x 12 small cabs at one time were very popular and in demand.

I have seen them under $300 for a pretty clean one and as high as $500 for what they called excellent.

The spacing for the Bandmaster and Bassman are indeed different. The cabs are the same, just the mount spacers are different, wider on the Bandmaster.

Thanks, Tony. Pretty certain the one I'm considering can be had for somewhere within that range.
