Topic: LTD Reverb Tank replacement |

I'm looking for a replacement tank for my LTD.
The other one is buzzing a lot.
What is recommended for 4 ohm amps
17" Long with 3 or 4 springs
What do you guys suggest?
and would you also suggest changing out the cables?
Please advise! |

I replaced the tank in my NV400 with the MOD replacement unit. Model # 9EB2C1B. I like it better than the Accutronics unit that was installed at the factory.
Of course you need to be sure it's the tank and not the circuitry that's causing the buzzing.

Pull your tank out of the bag and find the stamping i.d.

I wouldn't necessarily change the cables unless they are frayed or oxidized at the connectors.
If you swap it out, just be sure to connect the cables the same as they were or you'll have some big time hum if crossed.

Hey David, It is amazing how we all have different thoughts on how something sounds, The tank went bad on my LTD 400 and I got a new mod from Peavey and was not pleased with it so I found a used accutronics and it sounds like it always did. I use a True Tone Single coil pickup, Goodrich pot pedal thru a Rains SD-10. Has the best tone I could ever hope to get. J.R. Rose

David, I also use George L's cable's with the molded ends. They are pricey but I think they are worth it. I myself think that cables are very important. I have used a lot of different ones thru the years and found a lot of difference in how they make your guitar sound. J.R. Rose

All the tanks used in Peavey steel amps are two or three spring. Hope this diagram helps. You amp will have RCA connectors at the chassis instead of Molex. Can get confusing on which goes where. East way to ID the jack is to find the reverb return jack. .
Plug in two RCA cables to the jacks and then turn the amp on and the reverb control up a bit. Touch the ends of the RCA cables. The one that makes noise is the reverb return and goes to the tank RCA female marked "OUTPUT"
