I’ve seen some posts on here requesting steel guitar parts. I highly recommend Michael Yahl. I have done business with him in the past and have done business with him most recently. No one is more reputable for honest and fair service than Mr. Yahl. I do not believe you will be disappointed.

And the prices, despite seeming high at first glance, are actually quite reasonable. I showed an MSA bellcrank to a CNC machinist friend of mine, and told him I could get two of them plus pivot barrels for $25. He told me "I wouldn't make you one of those for $25!"

I told Mr. David Zornes that I would not comment about Mr. Michael Yahl until I had completed the vertical installation and other changes to Davids Sho-bud LDG that he required. I delivered David Zornes LDG this morning, and after an inspection and set-up, he was thrilled with the final results. I am no Sho-bud repair person, lever installer or anything close to being near competent on the subject. But I can tell you this, using Michael's parts, the vertical installation was a breeze. The parts are of the finest quality and closest tolerance you will find anywhere. Because this was the first Sho-bud I had ever had my hands on, to play or do work on, I was very apprehensive. Michael's vertical lever parts made that part of the job a snap. Now anyone that works on Sho-buds know, and I now do, they can be a challenge... Why, pot metal parts. Period! Once the vertical lever was installed and working properly, installing another requested change ended with one of the bell cranks breaking. A close examination of same, showed that it had been stressed in the past and was bound for failure. Each time I required an additional part, the bell crank in this case, Michael was Johnny on the spot and got exactly what I needed in a timely manner.

I had the occasion to talk to Michael twice, the first, I found out that he, like myself, had worked in the Aerospace Industry which of course requires the highest precision, dedication to detail and professionalism. I am glad he has brought those traits forward into his steel guitar parts business. A miscommunication on our part ended with Michael sending the proper parts along with a postage paid envelope for the not required part to be sent back to him in return mail. During the second communication, he made my life again easier by directing me to his online catalog of parts, to find what I needed. Every part he sent out, was done in the most timely manner possible and exactly as requested.

Mr. Yahl is a class act, a professional, exactly what the steel guitar community needs.

Thank you Michael, could not of gotten this Sho-bud done without your help.

Dick, I certainly gave you a challenge with that LDG. But a challenge that was brought to a delightful end. That might have been your first ShoBud, but you proved that you were the professional technician that you are. You are right. I am more than happy about the end results that you accomplished. The half stops are remarkably precise. The touch and mechanics of the LDG that you serviced is as solid a ShoBud that I have ever played- and I’ve played several. Thank you again so much for your gracious character and wonderful workmanship.
