Here is a response I got from Peavey:

Hello Ron,

Thanks for your inquiry and concern.

Peavey has always had a company culture of never throwing anything out. After 54 years it is time for a garage sale. We are not liquidating our inventory or Peavey assets.

We are selling off excess/obsolete parts, tools, and equipment to gain additional capital that will be reinvested into additional inventory to satisfy demand from our customers. There is no current, new in box inventory being sold.

The report of our death has unfortunately been grossly exaggerated.

Here is a statement from our COO:

"Peavey decided months ago to auction off outdated machines, materials, and goods that are of no use or value to ongoing concerns of the business. In doing so, this frees up a 300,000 square foot warehouse that will now become more profitable for Peavey moving forward."
-Courtland Gray, COO, Peavey Electronics

Also, all can rest assured that we have no intention of shutting down our service/repair facility.

Regards,
Roger Crimm

Does not explain the reported firing of 80 employees including Mike Brown...

No it does not. I sincerely apologize for my intensive reply- thinking only of myself. It's just an amp - a great amp - but it's just an amp - not a person.

I talked to Mike Brown the day after he was terminated.

He is okay with this. He understands that things change and that Hartley had no option but to lighten the operations in Meridian. Virturally nothing was being built in Meridian anymore.
As far as customer service reps, it was decided for Mike to leave, since he would be retiring soon anyway and keep some of the newer reps onboard.

Business decisions are tough, but necessary in order to stay in business.

I had to let some key people go in my cabinet company in 1995 and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. But I had to keep my business from going under.

Do you know if he was 'terminated,' or did he leave voluntarily? Confused

Glad to hear Peavey is still in business and doing service work. The day before the first announcements my rack box died on me. It has a Tube-fex and Peavey power amp. Now I can call and make arrangements to get them fixed hopefully.

I was worried, I have a Nashville 400 and a Peavey PA system also.

A little off subject, but you already know I'm a peavey man for lots of reasons.

I've been putting their MiniMax bass head amp through the steel guitar trials and really liking it.

CLICK ME

I've been using it and my Peavey Nashville 112. Swapping back and forth with it the on gigs. I played two gigs yesterday with the MiniMax, plus abour 10 other gigs. Actually got a compliment from the guitar player on it.

I experimented with the Boss Katana before the MiniMax and wound up liking the MiniMax better for tone. I'm playing it through a cabinet with a Black Widow 12" speaker. It's very light weight because of the new D class power supplies the manufacturers are using these days. Plenty of power as you would expect.

Being that it was engineered for Bass players, it has a lot of Bass response, so you have to turn your bass down low to get the Steel Guitar tones you like, but that's a breeze. Attached is what I put my settings on. Of course that changes a bit from gig to gig, depending on the room.

I bought mine from Sweetwater and showed them a lower price to match. Of course all the dealers now let you try them out for 30 to 60 days. So you're only out shipping if you don't like it.

Well worth the try.
