It is with great sadness that I tell everyone here about the passing, on July 5, of my friend and musical colleague Harvey Kagan.

Harvey was a superb bassist who made his musical mark early as bassist for the original Sir Douglas Quintet, the great San Antonio band responsible for the 60's hits "Mendocino," "She's About a Mover," "Nuevo Laredo," "And the Rains Came," and more.

He left the music business in the 80's and became a pharmacist, but never completely gave up gigging and worked with other San Antonio area groups all through the 70's and into the 2100's. I last worked with him in December of 2018 and the gig was filled with laughter and reminiscing.

I will miss my friend greatly. This is my third good friend to pass in July 2019. Too much too soon.

grew up with SDQ. great music. Looks like Harvey in addition to great bass work had many talents and interests. Hard to say goodbye to our friends. Grateful for the memories.
