I wonder what you think this steel is worth.
Fender 400
It does not belong to me. It belongs to a young man that got it for a birthday present some years ago.
Iam not trying to sell it here I just trying to help him figure about what is worth in the condition it is in and no case.
I saw the ones on ebay.

It's hard to say what it's worth is.
If it plays and operates fine but the finish is a bit scuffed, I would say it's about $100 or it could be a good candidate for a trade-in. (not that I would do such a thing!)
I like the sorta red to black fade paint job. I know its probably not original, but it's different.

| Gordon, from the pictures, it in just "average" shape. The clunky knee lever and the stuff engraved in the side don't help the value. Also the roller nut appears to be a home-made version, and the bridge cover is missing. As such, the guitar (in my estimation) would probably sell for $350-$500. |

Donny that is about range I was thinking.
What I wonder though, is that value range because its an old fender or is it something a guy could really play on after spending some TLC on it?

OK, let's see:
It's a Fender 400 with the early changer and pedals.
The bridge has been modified with some kind of roller assembly, and a REALLY ugly one.
The pickup doesn't quite look right - might be stock, maybe not.
The knee lever is a mod - kind of an interesting approach. I'd like to find the smaller pully that was used. But the larger pully looks like some kind of weird synthetic. Doesn't look real sturdy.
The engraving was a bad idea.
If it was a stock 4-pedal, it'd be around $500-600 in average shape. The mods on this one don't help the value.
I'd say $350-400. Maybe. The lack of a case is a concern as well, as replacements are really hard to find. |

Nice Clean all originals are in the $650 range,, some more, some less. Mine is on the market for $700, but I am including the shipping in the price.. really worn finish will knock off $150 or more as will any refinish..
Mods will knock value off substantially.. I would say the steel pictured is $350-400 guitar, but if put on ebay ,, who knows.... |
