I have another (non-computer) friend who has asked if I could date a guitar he recently acquired. It's a Rickenbacker black Bakelite with the serial #6-806. It has only one control, that being the volume. Sorry, I don't have any pics.
Any comments please, thanks.

Hey, George! Well, if it only has one volume control it's one of the first of the bakelite Ricks, introduced in 1935. By 1937 they had a volume knob as well. Pretty sure on that, but if someone else has better info, I'm all ears. Always looking to learn more. _________________ Remington Steelmaster S8 w/ custom Steeltronics pickup. Thank you for the response Mark. I knew the "one control" only was an indication of being a 1935 model. I was wondering if the serial No. 6 - 806 gave any additional info.

The serial number is usually prefixed with a "C" before the number. Haven't seen or worked on one with a "6" |

Hi Bill, thanks for your note, I just checked with the chap who owns the Ricky and he confirms the prefix is a "C" and not a "6". My hearing aids and telephones sometimes don't get along!!!!!! Thanks for mentioning that.

If I was asked to date an old Ricky.. I would be ok with that as long as it’s single.. |

My wife and I often eat a roadhouse, "Ricky Joe's" here in town. I've never met "Ricky Joe"!!!!!! Geez, I never thought, maybe I could play some Hawaiian steel guitar there and become a "late bloomer"!!!!!
