I've seen Rusty with Poco back in the day, playing PSG with a Dobro on his lap, switching back and forth during a song. Just found these pics from a Poco show in 1976, Mannheim, Germany....

They never played there! Rather in Offenbach as support to America. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

I believe you Joachim. Just because the internet says something, doesn't make it so. That's cool, Joachim. Reminds me of when he would play "the Bear" in Poco. When I worked at Rick in the 70's, there was a Melobar tucked away in the foreman's office. They had approached Electro String about doing the manufacturing, but I guess that never flew.
I've tried playing steel with my Dobro on my lap, but am not really able to use the knee levers. Can still do some A,B pedal stuff though. Don't think I'd want to have something else around my neck. Sure, it's the rare tune that would call for alternating instruments, but I saw him do it more than once back when. _________________ MCI Arlington S-10 3+5, George L E-66, BJS & Emmons bars, Fender Stage Lead II 100W 1x12, Fender Satellite SFX, custom FX rack, 1983 Dobro 60D, SX-8 lap steel, Martin D16GT, Ibanez AS73, 1978 Rickenbacker 4000 custom. |

That looks and sounds like Randy Meisner singing. Can't say that I would ever buy that record. Not one of their best IMHO. Wonder why Rusty sets his lap steel stand so low, he really has to spread his legs wide to get that low? Love Rusty's playing. _________________ John Brabant
