Instead of hijacking Greg Cutshaw's "short song" thread, here's a new one. This is actually not a song, but an intro I've just been learning - to Mark Knopfler's Done With Bonaparte, from the album Golden Heart which features Paul Franklin on several tracks, but not this one.
It was recorded using the amp-modelling DI output on the Telonics rack, which I quite like the sound of.

I've put it on my list of things to do!
Well, I listened to the other tracks on the album where Paul Franklin has a credit and it was a big disappointment! There's hardly anything there, and what there is could have been done by anybody. Just when it feels time for a little steel we get yet more of Knopfler's guitar. Good though that is, I don't see the point of hiring someone of Franklin's stature to do distant single-note decorations he could have done himself with a bottleneck. If you weren't listening hard for evidence of steel guitar you wouldn't detect any at all.

Here's the tab. I played it in C# because that's our singer's key, but I've tabbed it in C for simplicity.

| I agree Ian. It's like buying a state of the art computer to play solitaire. However I guess Mark can afford Paul so why not. Paul did let it rip on the live shows. Your recording sounds good! |

That snippet is a good advert for E raise and lower on separate knees - I shall keep it for next time that topic comes round, as it surely will!
I'm not sure exactly what the amp modelling is doing as the switch is very inaccessible and precludes an easy A/B comparison. But I trust Telonics and I like it so what the heck.
