On my gig last week, a gal is taking pictures of me on her cellphone and calls someone at the same time. The gig is over and she comes up to me and says she has a guy on the phone hes a pro player in Nashville. I said great who is it, whats his name, she tells me, I don't recognize the name. She asks me my name I tell her, she tells him.
She then takes a picture of the Emmons badge on my Steel and tells the guy..EMMONS...Then she says to me he a has a Sho Bud. I replied, KOOL.
I asked again whats his name, is he a member of the Steel Guitar Forum ? She asks him
her reply,
he never heard of it, what is it again,?
I said again STEEL GUITAR FORUM . she tells him again, he says he never heard of it.
I just said, odd, hes a Steel player in Nashville ? her reply, yes hes a professional.
I just said ok and found it to be odd.
The gig is over and we are packing up and she asks me to play Danny Boy. I just said now ? We have to pack up and leave, the restaurant is closed. I invited her to come back in two weeks, she said that she will and her Nashville friend is also coming.
I hope they both come ! I told her I'll play Danny Boy.
I'll also tell him about the Steel Guitar Forum ! _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

well thinking about it, maybe it's not odd at all. A few years back I was in Nville walking Broadway, I ran across a band with a guy doubling on guitar and Steel. It wasn't like he was tearing it up, but he was pretty good. It was an older Sho Bud, Round Front, Single 10.
During his break I talked to him for a few minutes, I asked him about the Sho Bud, I asked which model was it , which pull system did it have ? ( that may have been a hint )
He said. "its a Single Neck". I didn't bother to expand the conversation. I just said , nice playing , sounds good and left.
Of course he probably just thought I was some guy who just came down from the Mountains to see what all the hooplah concerning electricity and running water was all about. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Or it could be some wacko blowing smoke up that poor girl's fanny. Over the years I've had both "James Burton" and "Reggie Young" come in to clubs I was playing trying to hustle girls. The guy impersonating Reggie Young went so far as to have a satin band jacket with his name on it . |

Who's handling the bets on whether she and/or he shows up or not? _________________ Many play better than I do. Nobody has more fun. |

Tony, at least she knew what it was. We often get that I know someone story and the old cell phone calling trick. Sometimes I despise the phone addicts. You handled it gracefully. |
