The old pot in my goodrich volume pedal went bad, so I just tried replacing it with a new pot I bought from George L. I carefully followed the string winding diagram on Scotty's site and... it doesn't work quite right. The volume swells up evenly until I get close to all the way up, and then there's a sudden leap in volume right at the end. Does anyone know what I did wrong here? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Go to Scottysmusic and click on misc. information and there is a picture and instructions on rewinding a goodrich pot.
It needs a turn and a half. More wont work
right. |

It sounds like the pot may be wired backwards and the string wound backwards. The pot has a logarithmic taper. Try interchanging the 2 wires on the outside lugs of the pot, then wind the string in the other direction.

Hello Justin, I had to replace the pot in my GoodRich L120 volume pedal, it is hard to find the audio tapered 10k pots for these pedals, but I think Scotty's music carries them at times, if you use a higher K ohm audio tapered pot like 250k ohm or 500k ohm you will not get volume until it is almost all the way full volume when sound kicks in all at once, you would have to modify your pedal by removing the circuitry inside to use higher K ohm pots which can be done and they will last longer, but I would try to find a 10k ohm pot, some canadian music stores do carry them also, like steel guitars of canada, and Scotty's music. |

OOP`s!! I have a GoodRich 110 pedal not the L120, so my pedal uses the 10k pot. |

I just got off the phone with Phil Goodrich. He said they have unfortunately had some real problems with their pot supplier, but that they now have what he says is a far superior pot that is made in Canada. He says they should last for years. I guess I'll see as he's sending me one for my 120.
In fact for the price he quoted me, I think I'm going to send the pedal to him and let him install it. My time is worth more than that. He seems like a real nice guy. |

It was a 500 K pot. I think I have it working well now. I wound the string with the pedal in the heel-down position and the pot turned all the way down (before, I had it all the way up and toe-down), and now it seems to work well. |
