Any manufacturers (or custom small shops) making a flat 8 string magnetic pickup that would fit here?

National Resophonic makes one but it's about $200. Lace makes one, but it's thicker than than the National. You'll have to check your clearance.

Check with Jerry Sentell in Sacramento. He makes many different pickups and has no problem with custom orders. He'll likely be willing to make one to your specs:

Thanks for the info! I think I would definitely need a custom build to get the right string spacing and thickness.

Greg, Krivo make pickups around 1/4" thickness for Gypsy Jazz guitars. They may have something suitable for your needs.

Magnetic pickups are not as good with bronze strings... if you don’t like the sound it would be improved with steel or nickel strings. I prefer the sound of bronze for acoustic so I’d be more inclined toward an acoustic pickup.

Lace makes a thin pickup for acoustic bass guitars:

I'm using one of those as a second pickup on a Fender 400 steel; should definitely fit underneath the strings, but you might have to remove those tea strainers, as the pickup is quite wide.

Pete Biltoff of Vintage Vibe in FL will make you one. A killer one too. I've contacted him about the same exact thing and he's made them for me before for a Weissy. Highly recommended.

The hardest thing about making a pickup for that guitar is that fact that the hole screen covers go under the strings, where the pickup needs to be.
