| I've used Jeff's uni tuning for 20+ years, 7 pedal 4 KL,,,he didn't advocate a LKR so as not to interfere with pedal movement. I always figured if it worked for him (him playing about a jillion more than I ever will) why reinvent (his) wheel? But recently, after looking at Larry Bell's tuning,,I'm thinking move 6th pedal to knee (LKR). Achieve 6th pedal function by letting off E lower lever and lower 8th string E to D with LKR. Of course this lever would place foot position over the "6th side" pedals. That would allow 5 and 7 to be used together (common double foot move),,,also allow convenient move to 4th pedal (boowah pedal). Would also tend to make the tuning much more easily seen as "one tuning". |

Sonny, that's very similar to what I do, except that I don't use a separate lever. I have P6 on RKR with a half stop for the E lowers.
Having P5 & P7 next to each other is musically great, and a little like the B and A pedals. Go for it!

| Sounds interesting Ian,,,not sure I understand how that lever would work. RKR is my E lower. I've never been very good with half stops?? |

If you're one of those who don't like half stops, then go with your original idea, which is good.
My RKR is my E lowers also, but if I push it hard it takes 8 on down to D. I developed it on my homebuild and had it put on my Excel and my Williams. It was intended for B6 style but is useful in E9 too as an alternative to raising 9.

| Also Jeff's tuning has 9th string B to D lower on LKL,,,,since I would have a D on 8th string, why not put my "C" pedal (actually would be my A pedal since I have Day set up) on LKL to be used on the E9 "side". |

Lowering 8 to D is good in B6 mode but no substitute for raising 9 to D in E9. I for one am convinced you need both and that the C pedal belongs on the floor. That's what's good about Day for uni - the C pedal is out of the way of the B6 pedals.

I would say if you can have both it would be better. But, for me I find the D note works better on the 8 string. Not only is it more musical, but it can allso be used with the A pedal if it's on the 8 string. |
