On this day Feb.2 2005 we lost a true Legend my good friend and one of the most talented steel guitarist to ever walk God's beautiful earth Mr.Jimmie Crawford. Jimmie I miss you every day.You always made me laugh or smile with your personality and your pickin'.I'll be forever missing you....

Jimmie was a blessing to all who crossed his path. I was lucky enough to tour with him for Slim Whitman in the '90s and he was kindness personified as well as being a supremely gifted musician.
Thanks for all your help and encouragement, Jimmie.
I'm reminded that the MD on that tour was none other than the great Harold Bradley whom we lost just this week.

Live, Jimmie would play to his heart's content not hindered by studio arrangements. Got to respect that.
Looking back, we know what he was up to then and it makes more sense now.
Would someone explain why the difference in the spelling of his name?

When Jimmie liked or thought highly of someone I remember him saying, "He's a Dandy". Jimmie was a "DANDY", big time..!! I met him in 1975 and we became friends. What a tremendously awesome man and musical talent he was. I still miss him.

| Jimmie ordered the parts for my '76 Emmons from Ron Lashley and assembled them in his basement. I stayed in his home for a few days until he was done. He was an amazing man and player. We did a lot of laughing over the years. He once called me, collect, and played his "Rocky Top" over the phone from the vinyl LP. He put it on and walked away never to return. I heard the entire album before I hung up. He was a very funny guy. |

Love that story Ben! Jimmie was a mentor, teacher, incredible player and the best friend anybody could have. I miss the stories he would share when we worked on building guitars into the wee hours of the morning most nights. Great memories I will always cherish. RIP... Jimmie!

Somewhere on the forum there is a thread where Buddy E was asked to name his top 10 pedal and non-pedal players. Jimmy is on that list along with Curley, Lloyd, Sneaky Pete, and a few others (I can never remember the others and it’s hard to search for the thread) ‘Nuff said, I suppose......

| I was neighbors with Jimmy for four years. I spent countless hours in Jimmy’s basement learning anything I could ever want to know about steel guitar musically and mechanically. I’ll always cherish the time I spent with him and miss him dearly. He was for sure a dandy. |

Jimmie was the first Nashville pro I met, via Tommy Cass on my first trip to Nashville in 1973. I later ended up in Colorado where I became an Emmons dealer, and started bring Jimmie out to do seminars and some recording. We recorded the James and John record (with John Hughey) Together. He built a 10x10 push pull for me in 1979 and I later added JCH #106, of which I will never sell. Spent a lot of hours in the basement, memories never to be forgotten. Miss ya, babe!
