Indeed, he did. Here he is at the Maricopa Co jail, performing for fellow inmates inside Sheriff Joe’s infamous tent city. To his right, is my good friend, Noel Kirkland,

He made it to Albuquerque also.
At one time he was married to Dick Bills daughter.
Dick Bills had a band called the "Sandia Mountain Boys".
My cousin and I were on his radio program way back then.

He's in Billstown Arkansas for the duration.
I think that town is named for Dick Bills' family.

Yes
I was working the repair counter at an electronics shop in Phoenix in the 80's and a guy came in with a dual cassette deck. I said "You look a lot like Glen Campbell" He said he gets that all the time and gave me a Razorback lighter he just brought back from Arkansas
Very nice guy and one hell of a guitar player |

Glen & Tanya were both members of the North Phoenix Baptist church, and good friends with Rev. Richard Jackson when they lived in Phoenix.
I can recall Glen singing a lot there at the Sunday morning televised service's, backed by a 29 piece little ole back up band.

Glen Campbell was one of those acts like Roy Clark where his real skills were hidden from the general public.
We live in a bifurcated world where only a few have the opportunity and the insight to see behind the facade to where the true talent lies.
Sometimes artists are forever blocked from reaching their artistic potential because they are boxed in too early. |

Bill, in what instances were either of these players "real skills" hidden from the general public? |

Barry I was referring to their skills as serious musicians. Glenn hid himself behind the veneer of a pop crooner and Roy as a buffoon. I doubt many in the general public knew what skilled musicians they were. |

I think you're right, Bill. I was surprised since I had this rhinestone cowboy image of him. But him and Roy could flat pick. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Another one is Jerry Reed.
He is a very talented guitar player.
Even Chet Atkins was disappointed with him for not taking his guitar playing more serious.

IMO, Roy was a buffoon, zooming up and down on his bass strings every time he would run out of technique. Not in Campbell's league at all. OK, flame away, Roy fans... |
