A Bigsby with six 8 string necks?
Came across this on Abe's West Coast steel mid century facebook page. A great page for steelers interested in that time period. Thanks to Abe.
At first thought it was two steels until a closer look. Then thought it might be a photoshop fake, but can't see any signs of that.
Anyone know anything more about this Bigsby? Pedals or no pedals? When it was made? Does it still live? Missing in action? Cut up into plank steels?
I'm not looking to own it, not with my bad back!
Just find it very interesting. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

Still looks like two triples to me. The bridge ends are different and the nuts don't line up. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Two X 3... Maybe.
That would sure make more sense.
My eyes are still not 100% recovered from recent eye surgery. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

Great photo! Seems to me that you'd need arms longer than a gorilla's to play that thing if it's really six necks. |

Here's the same dude.
Maybe he combined these 2 Bigsbys into a single unit. Or maybe these 2 guitars are what resulted after he cut the 6 neck steel in half?
Quite the craftsman either way.

That’s Lee Jeffries and it’s two triples sitting close together. Hilarious! _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

Thanks Abe,
Guess my eyes are still way less healed than I thought!
Still can't figure how he reached all those necks or even stayed sane trying to remember all the tunings.

If that indeed was a 6 neck instrument, I'd be interested to see the case for it. |

Andy,
I'm sure that guitar was never played. It was just set up that way for giggles.

Yes, that's Lee Jeffries. He definitely didn't own a 6 neck bigsby (he would have mentioned it for sure) and you can see it's 2 different guitars anyway - the 3 necks closest to the camera have obvious pins olding the fretboards on whereas the other 3 don't. |

There is bound to be a specialist one could see about that.

Well I might be half blind for a while longer, but at least it's turned into a funny thread.

I guess I would never remember even three tunings these days, to be able to sort it out. How about a 6-neck frypan ? |

Built for at least 8 necks...might be overkill on 6. Works best on really....Really slow ballads.
