I replaced the single coil pickup on my '80s push/pull uni with an 18.5K TrueTone. I noticed almost no difference. The TrueTone is a great pickup, but so was the original. |

Gary, I have a 75 pp and I had Jerry Wallace rewind the pickups to 17.5. What a difference. Jerry is the best. |

I have an E66 on top and a 712 on the bottom . .. both sound great, and just a little "warmer" than the original single wounds. |

My 65 has pickups wound to about 14.8K. that's pretty light, compared to later pickups, but boy-howdy that guitar sounds okay... -L- |

WHY do steel guitar players buy such and such a guitar for it's Wound/TONE, etc., then promptly change the pickups so that it will sound like SOMETHING ELSE?
Just curious...... |

I had my guitar for almost 20 years before I promptly changed the pickups. I changed because a better pickup brought out more of the natural sound of the guitar. Just sounds EVEN better.
