Here are three pretty intros I transcribed from "Hawaiian Touch", Barney Issacs' CD with George Kuo. Barney played elegantly and beautifully throughout this set of Hawaiian standards. He used C6th tuning on a Dobro. The tempos and timing are my best guess. Here's an audio file of just the intros ...

Many thanks for sharing this, Andy. The liner notes say that this was the first pure acoustic recording of steel and slack key guitars. Wonderful duets of many Hawaiian standards.
How great would it be to have the notation and tabs for those songs!! |

That's lovely stuff, I realize I need this album! Old Plantation is a beautiful song (my favorite being Alfred Apaka's version, heavy on the vocal harmonies).
Those are all so classic "Barney". Love it! _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

www.daddystovepipe.com has a tab for Old Plantation and Ku’u Pua in C6 tuning. He has also posted these Hawaiian melodies on YouTube playing a Daniel Brauchli lap slide guitar. |

Thanks for posting Andy. I was playing around with your transcription and found it laid out perfectly on the eharp if I lowered the low C# to C. Actually opened up some new possibilities for me. |

The tab is located on his main site under “Single Tabs without videos.†It is for purchase. He also has a few Paddy Burgin originals that are not listed. You can message him if you are interested. The Burgin tunes are mostly open D or G tunings. All are on YouTube. |

That's the version I learned of that song, thanks to Basil (and Barney)! Barney had a very "chordal" approach and you could hear that on a lot of his work...Hawaii Calls backing Jules, the duets with Billy Hew Len on the Jack De Mello album, and a lot of the miscellaneous albums he played on in the 60s and beyond. Visited his final resting place under the shadow of Diamond Head last March (where also lies Jules, B H L, Alfred Apaka and many others). _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling
