Does anyone have a tab for Steel Guitar Rag, C6 tuning, 6 string guitar? I am looking for the original version that Bob Wills played. I have seen several tabs but they are either for 8 strings or more or are a different version, meaning they sound a little different. If anyone has one I would love to be able to get a copy of it. Thanks!! |

Leon McAuliff didn't play it in the C6th tuning, so it will sound different on your lap steel. I think he was using an E tuning as it sounds like open strings on the E chord.

On C6th, start on the 4th fret, 4th string. The initial melody notes are there at the 4th fret.
The E chord is at the 4th fret. The A chord is at the 9th fret. The B chord is at the 11th fret.
Sorry, I don't have tab for it. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

On January 7, 2004, Jesse Pearson posted a C6 tab for Steel Guitar Rag on the old Steel Guitar Forum. (That Forum is now closed.) You should be able to find with a search. |

Thank you Bob. That is basically the one I am trying to play, playing on the 4th string etc. What I am having trouble with is the next section, and the transition from A section to B section. I just can't seem to get the right notes on it. Please keep in mind I am a very green beginner. |
