As some of you may remember, I`ve praised the Tech21 Blonde here for years. Been using it on some gigs ever since. Now the great guys at Tech21 have come up with an all-in-one solution for me when I need my tone DI`d, the Fly Rig 5 v 2.
This tiny pedalboard has the Blonde, a delay (with tap tempo, quarters or dotted eights), a reverb, an XLR out, a tuner and an overdrive with two different types of OD. AND it fits on top of the volume pedal in my pack a seat.

Amazing little gadget.
Here`s a little demo direct from the Fly Rig`s XLR to a Broadhurst Gardens mic pre and Pro Tools. No eq or effects added except on the Fly Rig.
I`m sure some of you will find this thing interesting,
The demo has 2 improvised examples, straight country tone with a little delay and reverb, the second has more reverb and delay, with the delay modulation on.
The guitar is an Infinity U 12 with a Telonics pup.

Sounds good, and - surprising to me that it sounds that clean. I've used modelers for 15 years, and getting a clean sound has always been troublesome for me. I always had to cheat, or use a pad of some type. Even now, with the Line 6 HX Stomp, I'm using a pad in front of it, so I don't hit the amp section too hard for my taste.

Super small rig is great. Unfortunately for me, 2/3 of my pedal board is taken up with Peterson StroboStomp Classic tuners for tuning and muting. Hahaha!

Enough rambling from me. Good find and application on your part.

Best of luck, and thanks for sharing,

David Spires

I'm also interested in dirt so I'm going to check out some OD'd demos. That does sound good, Olli.

12.5" long!

Here`s a little dirt recorded just for you, Jon!
A quick noodle with the Cali overdrive section, otherwise the setup is the same.

David, it might be because the Fly Rig is analog except for the delay and reverb.

The drive on the OD was on maybe 8 o’clock, so it’s barely on....

Tell Lloyd Schwartz at Tech21 that you need him to mod your volume pedal like this, with all 5 stomp buttons. Demand it!

Glad you're still using this. It's on my list of things to consider (but lacking a modulation stage, it would still leave me looking for more outboard stuff, defeating its purpose of being fully self-contained).

I’m waiting for them to contact me about designing a signature model.

Lots of options, John.
I have:
DI`d to the PA out of the XLR
Used a powered Monitor
Bypassed the Blonde pre and connected to the front end of an amp
With the Blonde on, connected to the power amp in of my amp
Recorded DI through the XLR out
A versatile little gadget!

There's part of me considering this unit as a DI option...for Hawaiian/jazz nonpedal. Is the bass response pretty good? I like a really warm tone and want a good low C bass response (C13)... Giving extra thought to this because of long experience with Sansamps as a bass player. Warm sounding analog (if not tube) at a time when everything was going digital...
